Outdoor Adventures in Alaska

Alaska is well known the world over for all of the outdoor adventures you can enjoy there. If you are a nature lover, then a venture to this gorgeous nature state needs to be a top priority at some point in your life. A visit has never been easier than it is right now, due to the fact that exciting travels to Alaska are becoming increasingly popular. The wildlife, the wilderness, and the landscape are all enormous draws for visitors, vacationers, and even people who live there. Of course, there is also the fact that there is a wealth of both traditional and extreme sports to enjoy there.

Naturally, there is a wide variety of different activities to enjoy out of doors in Alaska. Many of the most popular sports and activities involve the water in some way. For instance, kayaking in the many rivers, lakes, and in the sea, of course, is enormously popular. Any other water sport you can think of can be enjoyed there as well, and there is plenty of fishing to be had. Whale watching is another huge draw for many people. In fact, a lot of vacationers flock to Alaska just for that opportunity. White water rafting has long been a favorite past time as well. Because the wildlife and the landscape in Alaska are so extraordinary, there are a lot of wildlife reserves, parks, and things of that nature there as well. For example, the Denali National Park is absolutely gorgeous. It is easy to book a tour to see the entire park. Within its boundaries, you can go on guided hikes, you can pan for gold, you can fish, and naturally you can bask in the beautiful natural surroundings. Mount McKinley is also located in this park. The mountain is covered with glaciers, so needless to say, a tour of it is definitely the experience of a lifetime.

Nature lovers will also want to visit the Kenai National Wildlife Sanctuary. Bordered by the Kenai Mountains, there are hundreds of lakes which are fed by glaciers. There is a wide variety of wildlife to see there as well. There are black bears, brown bears, dozens of different bird species, caribou, and more sea animals than you can even imagine.

Farther north, within the Arctic real, there is another sanctuary, the Arctic National Wildlife Sanctuary. It encompasses eight million acres in all. It is the largest sanctuary in all of Alaska. A number of native tribes, indigenous to the land, live there, such as the Inupiat Eskimos and the Gwinch’in Indian tribe. They use the natural resources in the area to survive, living as their ancestors did in the past.

Suffice it to say, there is more than meets the eye in a visit to Alaska. From sports to tours to wildlife, a well timed trip will allow you to enjoy all that this northern paradise has to offer in the way of outdoor activities.
